Basic Drawing
Tuesdays, 9:30 am - 12 pm, September 22 - November 10. (8 weeks) $200
Learn the basics of drawing what we see from direct observation. This course will develop the eye and the hand. A great way to get in shape whether you plan to draw as a basis of painting, or just for the joy of drawing in itself. Instruction in landscape and nature drawing includes lessons in line, tone, perspective, and composition. The class will work outside weather permitting. Excellent course for beginners. Painting in Watercolor
Wednesdays, 9:30 am -12 pm, Sept. 23 - Nov 11. (8 weeks) $200
Learn the basics of planning a composition, how to mix and layer colors, applying washes, and how to use tonal values and color to create a sense of light and space. Some previous drawing experience recommended. We will paint outdoors weather permitting. Instructor will work with all participants at their level of experience. All levels welcome. Whimsy in Wood: Trellises, Mirrors, Furniture and More!
Saturday Sept. 19 & Sunday Sept. 20, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. $120 includes both days and basic materials.
Work with sculptor Alfred Glover at his indoor/outdoor studio in Cataumet, to make a whimsical wood creation of your own. We will use branches, found objects, rustic furniture or mirrors as a starting point for our imagination and creativity. Materials, tools, fastenings and paints supplied. Instruction in how to join unlike materials, create patinas and use wood burning, how to balance a design using form and color, and how finish a piece for hanging or display. No previous experience needed. Materials you will need to bring: Branches, natural and man made found objects. (Bring a bag lunch.)

The Art of Photography
4 Tuesdays, Sept. 22, 29 & Oct. 6 &13 2:00 - 5:00 pm. $120 includes all four classes.
This class is to strengthen your ability to take and present photographs that are pleasing to others. We will review how a camera works, how to use light, how to compose a picture, and how to make a good print (or get a good print made). This is a chance to share your work with others, get feedback, and roam the coves and shores of Bourne. All you need is a camera (film or digital), and an interest in making pictures. All levels welcome - color and black & white OK.

Watercolor Workshop: "Cape Cod Landscape"
Friday & Saturday, 9:00 am -12:30 pm, Sept 25 & 26, 2 days $115
Learn the basics of planning a composition, making on-site tonal and color sketches, and developing a finished work. Some previous drawing experience recommended. We will paint outdoors weather permitting. Instructor will work with each participant at their level of experience. Beginners and all levels welcome. Call for materials list.

Paper Bowl Making Workshop
2 Saturdays: October 31 & November 7, 2:00 - 4:00 pm. $60 includes both days.
Bowls are open vessels that contain whatever we put into them. We will create handmade paper bowls that can be imbued with meaning by recycling personal papers, old love letters, poems, cartoons, writings, or other paper memorabilia. We will turn these into pulp from which we create a paper bowl. When dry, we will decorate the bowls with paint, paper and natural materials. Bring your favorite shaped bowl for a form, and some meaningful paper to recycle.

Chinese Brush Painting Workshop
Saturday and Sunday, November 14 $ 15, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. $80 includes both days.
Learn the calming, expressive art of Chinese Brush Painting. Instruction in the basics, including the use of brushes, papers, and various traditional and contemporary techniques. We will explore painting with ink and watercolor. Jean has been studying with one of China's greatest contemporary masters for 22 years. Any one can do!! No previous experience needed - all levels and ages welcome. Call for materials list.

Art Studio for Kids
Thursdays, 4:00- 6:00 p.m. (Ages 6 - 12)
Dec. 3 - Jan. 14 or Feb. 18 . $100 for 5 weeks, $200 for 10 weeks. Includes materials. (No class December 24 or 31.)
Students explore painting, drawing and 3D design and construction methods using watercolors, pastels, charcoal, wood, plaster, clay and fabric in guided creative projects. Introduction to art forms of many cultures for inspiration. Individual imagination and expression encouraged. The students' work will be exhibited in the Cataumet Arts Center Gallery in a special exhibition. Registration is ongoing. Please call for availability. Home-school families welcome!
